A Disappointment.

How else can you describe a government-slash-bureaucracy that promises something to a community like Dawson and then fails to deliver? It’s not life and death but I’m talking about the reluctance of the Yukon Party to live up to its promise of an initial 208K drawn from the 1 million capital funding that was promised to us before the current election. Notice that I’ve used the word promise several times now as well as in my public rants about the subject.

Small wonder the public is cynical about politics. When will we stand up and take ownership of our own governments? When will we understand fully the concept that our government serves us, not the other way around?

The Yukon bureaucracy has been put into animated suspension during the election on pain of some kind of punishment if any senior civil servant is caught speaking or implying some kind of action. Since when do we pay a civil service that is told to hibernate on either side of an election. We should be outraged, especially since this catatonic conditon in the relevant departments is preventing us from accessing our money, the people’s money.
