Recognition and thanks should be extended to Minister Hart and Community Services for listening to the Association of Yukon Communities and responding to their long standing request to review funding levels for the communities. I realize that some will say that $1,108,306 increased funding for Dawson over five years isn’t enough, but we should recognize – correct me if I’m wrong – that this is the first YTG government in 16 years that has increased the municipal grants.

This is certainly moving in the right direction even though the AYC has suggested that granting to our communities should also be indexed to reflect the cost of living. Nevertheless, kudos to government.
