My Sweet Ride

Such a beautiful car, such beautiful lines, can’t take my eyes off it.

A few years ago our former postmaster acquired an 1986 Jaguar XJ6. I recall coveting the car thinking how cool it would be to dash around town in it. One thing led to another, his son took ownership and subsequently sold it to me on the urging of his partner. She appealed to my vanity by saying how great I would look in this car, although I have misgivings about the carbon footprint I’m causing by driving it.

Mayor's Jaguar XJ6I’ve become a Jaguar enthusiast and have joined the online clubs and scour online sources for parts  to restore her to her former glory. Not that there’s anything wrong with her, but she needs some tuning up and tweaking. I took it on a 800 mile round trip to Teslin and back this September without incident. But she sure likes to drink high octane! Only the best for my Jaguar, or as Austin Powers would say, my Shaguar!

How do you think the Jag will hold up with all the potholes that will show up this spring?

Hope things are well in the City!

She looks like a beauty. Here in Victoria, BC our Jaguar Club has over 200 active members. If you can drive 800 miles there is no reason not to drive here in August to the world’s largest Jaguar Concours and be a show off like the rest of us. Jaguars, do not leak oil, smell, waddle, or shimmy. They only leak money.

Have fun and enjoy the bragging rights!!

    Nice Ride. Makes me green.

    Also:Dear reader:
I write to ask if anyone knows the whereabouts of a man named Tom Byrne.
He is/was an actor in Dawson, reciting the works of Robert Service.
I have been to Dawson about six times, and have seen his show several times at the Service cabin and at a little ‘theater’ on Front Street (perhaps) in the vicinity of where Maximilian’s or Gold Trail Jewellers are located now.

I’m about 78 now, and speculate that his age now would be 80 to 90 years. I’m considering another trip north, and would like to see him again. It could be a deciding factor.

I tried looking him up on the internet and found that name residing along the Sunshine Coast in BC. I have no data on whether that person is the one I’m inquiring about.

Any help that you could send would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I love that little green car, what is the make of it again? Seems I once heard some tourists say that just outside of Fort St. John a few years back someone in a little green jag passed about 7 motorhomes as they were all travelling too close together afraid they might get lost. Was that you???????????? They saw the Yukon plate here in Dawson. Imagine !

    Certainly a ride.
